Hello everyone! Today, I would like to talk to you about a subject I know very well, as this is what I’ve been doing over the last 8years (OMG time runs soo fast!): learning languages.
This is a question many people ask. Is learning languages a good thing? Is it useful? Is it important to know languages? And so on.
I think many people agree on the use of languages on the work market, especially nowadays. No one can deny that talking, understanding different languages is definitely a plus at work. But opinions are different when it comes to jobs that don’t really imply the need and use of languages. And many people still think that apart from mathematics and sciences, there’s nothing really important or useful nowadays. But they are wrong, terribly wrong. Learning languages is absolutely important. I would even say, a must. Why do I think this way? There are many reasons why I do. Let me share them with you in today’s post.
# The first reason why you should learn languages is that languages are a plus for many tertiary sector’s jobs. This is also the most known and common reason among people, but not the most important in my opinion.

#Learning languages provides good exercise for the brain and memory.

#Learning languages is learning to understand. When you learn a language, you also learn about another country’s History, which allows you to understand world History from another side. You also learn to understand a different mentality and that means you’re more likely to understand other people around you because you learn to let go of your prejudices and to be empathic.

#Learning languages is opening to others as it means open-mindedness. Indeed, learning a language means learning about a different country, History, culture etc and so widens one’s horizons. As it opens the door to an other culture, it does to an other literature. And lastly, it means you’ll have to meet with other people from other cultures. And that is precious. Languages create links between humans, even if they can be barriers sometimes. They separate and reunite in the same time.

For me, learning languages have been a precious experience. Since the age of 15, I’ve learned Mandarin and I’ve also learned Russian language years ago. This learning process gave me a lot. It gave me friends, especially my bestfriend, a Chinese girl. It gave me new books to read and more universes to discover. It helped me to become even more empathic and respectful of others, other cultures. It also gave me great competences and so gave more power to my Curriculum Vitae. Thanks to my Chinese and Russian lessons, I’ve been able to learn more about world History and the relationship between Great Britain and Russian Empire during the 18-19the centuries. It has enriched me with knowledge, friends and it has opened doors to me.

Anytime I can, I recommend to start learning a language because of all the benefits you can get from it. This was the purpose of this post. I wanted to share a bit of my experience and encourage you to make the step and consider learning a language. It doesn’t have to be the most complicated one, unlike me. Choose a language/culture that attracts you, intrigues you.
That’ll be all for today’s post, I hope you like it and find it useful. Thank you for passing by and reading my blog, I really appreciate. If you like this post, please feel free to share around you and on your social media, it’ll be very helpful to me.
