Hello everyone ! Welcome back ! Hope you all had a very good Palm Sunday. 🙂 Today we’re kicking off into Passion Week, the last run before Easter, the last week of Lent. Today, I would like to talk to you about how went my Lent, if it was hard or not and about my plans for Passion Week. I thought it would be a good idea to share my thoughts and experience with you.
Let’s get started !
Lent Review
My main review for 2022 Lent is gonna be about my food diet. If you don’t recall about that, this year I decided for the first time to do Lent and so to have an only vegetarian diet from Ash Wednesday until Easter.
Actually, it wasn’t that hard to being able to eat any meat or fish until now. Sometimes, while cooking meat for my family, I would be slightely “tempted”, the smell would be attracting me but not that much, it wasn’t hard to resist. The most difficult part about not eating meat was about the others, the need to explain sometimes and the way people look at it (sometimes it wasn’t easier and better simply not to say I was doing Lent and give no explanation at all). It was the case with my maternal grandma. At first I didn’t want to tell but as she saw I wasn’t eating any meat and insisted on asking (you know, my grandma isn’t the kind of person who knows when to respect other people’s choices and just being polite; the only person who asked me several times, as soon as I reached 23, “No boyfriend yet ?” in a very delicate way obviously). So I said I was doing Lent, and her reaction was exactly like I would have imagined: she stood still for a few seconds, with empty eyes and mouth slightly shut, almost in shock. Her reaction wouldn’t have been that much different if I told her I was gonna work into a brothel…..
You guessed it, such reactions are very encouraging, that’s why I prefer to keep silent on the subject in my daily life with people. However, not everyone is reacting this way, thank God. The other day I happened to tell about it to one of my colleagues and she did have such a nice reaction ! She was like “Oh, really ? You wouldn’t have guess by myself that you were doing Lent.” And she did ask me some questions, she wanted to understand what it meant, what that was like, doing Lent and so on. Basically, she had one of most perfect reactions, she responded with respect and showed humility by asking about it. It was really heartwarming for me, being able to talk to her about it freely in such a respectful dialogue.
Other than the social interactions that may be affected, the only problem about not having any meat/fish to eat, is that it meant less energy and being more sensible to cold. Which was a problem for me at work, especially about being much colder, since I partly work in frozen rooms, but still it was quite bearable as long as I wore enough layers. I purely had to think smarter and not stronger, to reduce the amount of energy needed when working. And I may have drunk a bit more coffee than I usually do 🙄…..
In overall, I would say I’m ready to do Lent once more next year. It was a good experience. I still don’t know if I would do exactly the same or change a few things, such as allowing me some fish or meat, but fordidding any sugar (that would be much harder though…) We’ll see by then.

Plans for Passion Week
Now, let’s talk about my plans for this week.
Since it’s still Lent until Sunday, I’m still not eating meat/fish until Easter. The things that are gonna be different from the last weeks is that for Maundy Thursday, I’m gonna be eating only a piece of bread and that for Good Friday, I will be fasting.
To be honest, I’m a bit worried about these 2 days, since they also happen to be one of the busiest days of the year where I work ( fish section of a grocery store) and I don’t know what to expect about how I would be able to handle things then, lack-of-energy speaking. But I’m willing to give it a try, anyway. And I’m sure it’s gonna be fine. After all, I won’t be alone there, my colleagues will be with me. I’ll update you about how it went.

Before finishing this post, let’s have a quick update about the blog, this Lent/Easter serie and so on. Apart from today’s post, there will be one last post on the 14th of April (on Maundy Thursday actually). Then, it’ll be end of 2022 Lent/Easter Blog Serie, and we’ll go back to 1 post per week, every Thursday morning. Other posts are planned for right after for publishing but I will be less active in general for a while, mostly until the launch of my Etsy shop in the beginning of next May. I need this break to rest a bit and focus on the last preparations for my Etsy. I hope it won’t be that much of an inconvenience for you.
That’ll be all for today’s post, I hope you enjoyed it. Thank you once again for passing by and reading my blog. It brings me a lot.
I’ll talk to you soon in a next post,
Until then, take care of yourself ❤
Ady ❤
