Taking You Through my Collections – Part 1

Hello everyone ! Welcome back ! I hope you’re all doing well. Today, I wanted to introduce into this blog content, something a bit new. On this blog, I try to talk about different things: recipes, life hacks, lifestyle choices of mine, crafts and so on; all these things are linked to each other by one thing: they reflect my life, they reflect my personality. Every post on this blog, every piece of this blog is a piece of me, of my soul, my body, my mind. And today, I would like to add another piece of my life I haven’t showed you yet here. I mean, my collections, since I collect a few things.

I think I already said it, I’m not a minimalistic, I have lots of things in my house, and even if I try to declutter often and remove any unnecessary, ugly things from my home (because it’s not a bin, but a house), it’ll never be a minimalistic house, a empty-looking house. There’ll always be lots of stuff in my house. Like collections.

So today, I would like to start a mini-series taking you through my collections. In this kind of posts, I’ll show you pictures of my collections and give you comments about it. You would say there’s not that much about such a topic, why sharing. You’d be right, apart from sharing some of my stuff and practice my photography skills, there’s nothing much. Let’s take this as an excuse to share some beauty (I’ll try to convey this beauty into my photography work) and maybe inspiring some people to start there own collection.

Today, I would like to start with my natural collections: my red stones, my cedar roses and my dried flowers.

Let’s get started !

#Natural Collections:

  • Red Stones
Most of these stones are kinda obsidian like, There is plenty of them around in my garden. The more red ones (I think they’re flintstones), I usually find them in the bed of the little stream passing through our property.
  • Cedar Roses
We do have behind our house a huge cedar tree (we still don’t know which kind though) and at a certain time of year, its “pinecones” fall down on the grass and bloom into roses like these. I regularly go check if there’s no new rose to pick up 😉
  • Dried Flowers
Among my dried flowers collection, you can find either bouquets (some are memories from my 25th birthday party, others are wild flowers and grass I picked up myself), either single flowers (mostly roses), or roses petals (I plan to make some pot-pourri out of some of it). Most of the dried roses come from fresh bouquets I purchase every Sunday as a treat (cheaper ones because not so “fresh” anymore, but still very pretty), and when the bouquet start drying, I remove the flowers from the leaves and stems (which I throw away into the compost). The prettiest one I keep, whereas I just keep the petals of the others and let them dry into a basket, by the window.
