Hello everyone ! I’m so excited, December is finally here ! Are you excited ? To be honest with you guys, I’ve been waiting this since mid October, no kidding ! 🙂 It’s been years since I’ve lost this feeling of Christmas magic that I used to have when I was a kid. On previous years Christmas looked more like a drudgery to me. Sad, isn’t it ? This year is slightely different, I do feel excited during the Advent whereas on past years I wasn’t, I was like ” Oh…. it’s Christmas next week ?! Are you sure ?” Seriously. Anyway, today we’re starting this year Christmas serie of posts on the blog. I cannot guarantee anything but I’ll try to upload lots of post(more than one post per week) and share with you lots of Christmas things. Let’s get started !
Advent Calendar:
The most iconic thing about Advent is the calendar, a small present before all biggest and real presents that will wait ubnder the tree. Most of the time, we simply buy one of these small chocolate calendars but this year I wanted something different. I did’nt want to buy my mom(yes, it was for her) one of those. I did it myself. I took a big basket and prepare 24 small gifts, one for each day before Christmas. On each gift, I put a small tag with a number and some clues to help her guess what’s inside. Compared to “traditionnal” calendars, this one is probably more expensive(it depends on which gifts you put in) but I think the concept is a little more funny. Instead of just finding the right number and eating a small chocolate, you have to unwrap something, like on Christmas Day.
Christmas Tree:
What is Christmas without Christlas Tree ? NOTHING !!! You know that Christmas is coming thanks to this tree in your living room, shining and sheltering all the presents coming under along the month. Yes, in our home, we do wrap presents all the month along and just place them under the tree until Christmas, it makes Advent more spicy: every morning, my brother and I look under the tree how many presents were add. My brother even look at tags and try guess what his are. :’D
This year I’ve decided, for my own Christmas Tree, to decorate it in white and red. I just took garlands, balls, ribbons and some silver pinecones. I also covered the base with some brown craft paper( One day I’ll make a tree skirt)
Decorations:
In the rest of the room, I just hang some more garlands, some ribbon bows. Near the tree, I also add my old russian rocking horse, as I call it. I think you understand that I call it this way because of the colors and patterns drawn on it. I thought it will be perfect with the tree. What do you think ? And I also placed my Christmas Panda on the tree side.
Wrappings:
Another fun part of Advent is about wrapping presents for your family, friends and so on. Today, I’m gonna share with you 3 wrapping ideas.
#1 Covered shoe box
This one is very easy and thrifty. All you need is a shoe box and some wrapping paper. Just cover the box with paper using tape or staples. Then, put your gift into the box and close it with ribbons. I like this wrapping method because with this one, no more paper in pieces everywhere in the room and less waste. And you can reuse it on next Christmas. 🙂
#2 Candy Wrapping
This one is also very easy. You’ll need two layers of crepe paper, tape and ribbons. Wrap the paper around the gift, fix it with tape and close the edges with ribbons. This method is better with round gifts.
#3 Paper Bag
For this one, I used an old chocolate box, covered it with paper. Then I made two holes on both sides, cut two pieces of thread and string these into holes. I made knots at each hole and get this way handles.
That’s all for today’s post, but don’t get upset, more are coming. 🙂 I have a question for you: which color(s) is your Christmas Tree this year ? 🙂
I’ll see you soon in a next post,
Until then, take care of yourself ❤
Ady ❤
