Homemade Flavoured Rice

Hello everyone! Welcome back for a new recipe! Today I would like to share with you how you can, with simple ingredients, cook a very delicious et nutritious dish in no time. To be honest, this is one of my favourite kitchen hacks. It’s crazy how just with some simple ingredients, sometimes (quite often in my case) leftovers, you can creat something unique, delicious easily !

Let’s get started!

You’ll need:

  • rice
  • bacon
  • eggs
  • peas and carrots (I used the canned kind)
  • salt
  • butter
  • paprika
  • chive

I don’t particularly give any quantities here as it depends on how many people this dish is for, and and your taste. Quantities aren’t that important, they should just be adjusted accordingly to what you prefer.

First, let the rice cook with paprika mixed in the cooking water into a rice cooker. Meanwhile, cook the other ingredients.

The first element that’ll accompany the rice are scrambled eggs. Mix eggs with some salt and chive. Then, cook the mixture into a pan with some butter.

Then, add the bacon and at the end the peas and carrots, mine were canned ones. When all these are cooked, cut off the fire, let them rest and have a lid on the pan to keep them warm.

Finally, when cooked, add the rice to the mixture and cook again. The idea is more to use heat to blend the flavours together and create an homogeneous dish.

Taddaa! It’s ready! This dish is, as you can see, very easy and quick to make. It’s perfect when you don’t that much things in the fridge and/or much time/energy to cook. I’ve been very tired lately, working half of the day and having the remaining half to clean up the house, taking care of pets and cooking our meals and also my brother’s lunchboxes. Actually, my brother isn’t the difficult kind when it comes to food, but still there is a minimum to fulfil. You cannot give him the same boring thing everyday, you need to try to diversify a bit. Nobody likes to eat the same thing each meal, each day. So I have to deal with that, with our fridge and my lack of energy these last weeks. And this kind of dish is quite perfect. It’s easy to make, do not require too much time and energy and it fills his stomach. Perfect combo!
