Winter Beef Stew

Hello everyone ! Welcome back ! Today I would like to share with you another recipe, perfect for Winter, when one needs to get warm. It’s a beef stew, the one called “Pot-au-feu” for those who may already know about it. It’s basically some beef meat, cooking for hours with vegetables and water into a stewpot.

Let me show you how I make mine !

You’ll need:

  • some beef meat (the amount depends on how many people and how much meat you can eat per person, but I would rather recommend 1 kg)
  • carrots
  • onions
  • potatoes
  • cabbage
  • leeks
  • celery
  • garlic
  • herbs (thym, laurel etc)
  • salt
  • broth cube (1 or 2)

Wash and cut all the veggies. Pour them into a large stewpot with the meat. Add herbs, spices, garlic, salt and broth cubes. Pour water up to the top, so that it covers everything. Make sure you use a large enough pot, otherwise, it would boil over when cooking.

Cook on low heat for at least 5 hours. But it can cook for longer, for this kind of recipes, the longer the better, you know.

I would recommend you to start this recipe the day before. So that it cooks during the day, rests overnight and cooks again the hours before serving.

Apart from the veggies I’m using today, you could add so many others, like mushrooms, turnip, parsnip, even zucchini cubes, added at the end though. The possibilities are endless (well kinda, as their is an end to the variety of veggies in this world 😅)
