Hello everyone ! Welcome back ! Today, I would like to share with you some of my favourite movies to watch during Lent and Easter times. Some are more christian-themed, others are less.
Let’s get started !
The Passion of the Christ, directed by Mel Gibson, featuring Jim Caviezel (if there’s one movie I would certainly recommend to watch for Easter time, is this one. Such a powerful movie for such a powerful time of year)
Ben-Hur, directed by William Wyler and featuring Charlton Heston (this movie conveys sooo much, I could watch it everyday when I was a kid, not even 10. I f you want to feel the redemption and salvation Easter provides us, watch till the end and I’m sure you’ll feel it as I did as a child)
Barabba (1961), directed by Richard Fleischer and featuring Anthony Quinn (this is another movie showing us the redemption and salvation given by God on Easter, but from another perspective)
The Story of Ruth, directed by Henri Koster and featuring Elana Eden (this one takes us back in History, at the beginning of the house of David the king and then Joseph the foster father of Jesus. A beautiful story about a young woman who finds her way back to God)
Salome, directed by Willima Dieterle and featuring Rita Hayworth and Stewart Granger (the story of this movie absolutely doesn’t follow the Bible or History, still it’s a great entertainment piece with the gracious Rita Hayworth)
Secret Garden, directed by Agnieszka Holland and featuring Kate Maberly and Maggie Smith (One of my all-time fav movies, one that celebrates Spring and Love, perfect for this time of year !)
Easter Parade, directed by Charles Walters and featuring Judy Garland and Fred Astaire (A classic comedy from classic Hollywood full of enchantment and sweetness)
Brigadoon, directed by Vincente Minelli and featuring Cyd Charisse and Gene Kelly (a very sweet fantastic story happening among the delicate heathers of Scotland in a small cute village)
Take Me Out to the Ball Game, directed by Busby Berkely and featuring Frank Sinatra, Gene Kelly and Esther Williams (another love story, perfect for Spring)
